Our annual picnic will be July 9th at Mariner’s Island on Meyers Lake. Mariners Island is located between 16th and 17th Streets off of Lakeside Ave N.W. in Canton. Members and guests are welcome to attend. Please bring your own table settings as well as a covered dish to share.
Our speaker for the evening will be Mark Holland. Mark is the archivist at the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum. He will be presenting a program titled “Inverted Intersections an 1956 Persepective on Canton Ohio.”

Our June meeting is coming up and as always our Vice President has another wonderful speaker schedule for us. This month Mr. Richard Jusseaume, the President of Walsh College, will be coming. He is going to share with us this history of Walsh University.

The Alliance Genealogy Society will be holding a Genealogy Fair at the Rodman Library in Alliance on Saturday, May 9th from 1-4pm. During the fair there will be sessions on using Rodman Library’s genealogy databases, sources that can be utilized at the Stark County District Library, county courthouses, and more. T.A.G.S will also be selling books from the Alliance, Stark County, and Columbiana County genealogical societies.

Wanted to let you guys know that we will be having our March meeting this Thursday the 12th at our usual room 107 of the Trinity United Church of Christ at 3909 Blackburn Road Northwest in Canton, OH.
Our speaker this month will be Kim Carlson and she will be giving a presentation on Brader Drawings & the Slabaugh Family so we hope that you can join us there at 6:30 or 7 this Thursday night.
Also I would like to let people know that we have been doing some spring cleaning to the website this week. We have fixed some links and added our photos back onto the website in the photo gallery section. I would like to get more pictures up on the site of society meetings and other activities so if you have any pictures like that please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org and make sure to let me know where and when they were taken and we will try to get them up on the website as soon as we can.
P.S. For those emailing photos please try to limit the amount of photos per email to 10 or less to ensure that the email doesn’t get too large to send. If you have more than 10 you can send multiple emails to get them all. Thanks.

As you ring in the new year don’t forget to mark your calendars for our first chapter meeting for 2015. It will be Thursday January 8th. Come an enjoy some refreshments as we look back at 2014 and plan ahead for 2015. It promises to be a great year!

The evening’s entertainment includes installation of the 2014 officers and induction of the 2014 class of First Families of Stark County, Ohio. The program will be on the history of Jackson Township and will be presented by Mary Aaby of the Jackson Township Historical Society.
