Wanted to let you guys know that we will be having our March meeting this Thursday the 12th at our usual room 107 of the Trinity United Church of Christ at 3909 Blackburn Road Northwest in Canton, OH.
Our speaker this month will be Kim Carlson and she will be giving a presentation on Brader Drawings & the Slabaugh Family so we hope that you can join us there at 6:30 or 7 this Thursday night.
Also I would like to let people know that we have been doing some spring cleaning to the website this week. We have fixed some links and added our photos back onto the website in the photo gallery section. I would like to get more pictures up on the site of society meetings and other activities so if you have any pictures like that please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org and make sure to let me know where and when they were taken and we will try to get them up on the website as soon as we can.
P.S. For those emailing photos please try to limit the amount of photos per email to 10 or less to ensure that the email doesn’t get too large to send. If you have more than 10 you can send multiple emails to get them all. Thanks.
As you ring in the new year don’t forget to mark your calendars for our first chapter meeting for 2015. It will be Thursday January 8th. Come an enjoy some refreshments as we look back at 2014 and plan ahead for 2015. It promises to be a great year!
This year’s banquet will be held on Thursday, November 14 at the Buehler’s Grocery Store Restaurant located at 7135 Fulton Road NW, Canton 44718. Arrive between 6 and 6:30pm with dinner beginning at 6:30. We will be ordering off the menu. The evening’s entertainment includes installation of the 2014 officers and induction of the 2014 class of First Families of Stark County, Ohio. The program will be on the history of Jackson Township and will be presented by Mary Aaby of the Jackson Township Historical Society.

I wanted to give you an update on the website issues that we have been having the last couple of weeks I have manage to get the site back and working on the yahoo website. I have lost all of the posts for the year of 2013 but have managed to recreate most of the contact forms and I have updated the Programs page with July and August meeting information. I will be working on getting the links back onto the website as soon as I can but it is at least in a usable state right now.
I thank you for your patience in this matter and I am sorry for the inconvenience this has caused to anyone.

Just wanted to let everyone know that our meeting is this Thursday the 10th and that we will be having Geoff Elliot doing a program on Abraham Lincoln’s Inaugural Train Journey which started 150 years ago this Friday. Geoff Elliot is a prolific researcher on Abraham Lincoln and even has his own website devoted to him at http://abrahamlincolnblog.blogspot.com/.
Also as a note the Meeting Programs page has been updated with 2011 dates and information for this program is on there so if you want to you can visit that page be clicking here. More programs will be added as they get arranged and notice will be given when they are posted.
I know this is a little last minute but I wanted to let you know about all the details concerning our Annual Banquet on November 11th. It will be held at the Canton’s Women’s Club and dinner will be served at 6:30p.m. Your menu choices are a pork tenderloin with garlic mashed potatoes and roasted broccoli or a vegetarian lasagna with roasted broccoli.
The program for the night will be given by Christopher Kenney from the Mckinley Museum and is entitled Let Us Ever Remember…McKinley’s Presidency Through Film. This program chronicles the presidency of William Mckinley through rarely film clips from the time and should be very interesting.
The charge for the dinner is $15 dollars and will be needed at the time of the banquet. We need you to confirm your reservation by Tuesday the 9th at the very latest so that we can have an accurate number to give to the women’s club.

I just wanted to tell you that September program will be Mandy Pond from the Massillon Museum giving up the program that was supposed to be for August which is about preserving your family’s oral histories. It should be a very good program so I hope you can all make it. The programs page of the website has also been updated with the program.
Hi everyone I wanted to get a call to action out to everyone concerning the Stark County Fair that is coming up here from August 31 to September 6.
We have a space at the fair this year and we really need folks to volunteer to man it through the week. We have divided the days into 4 and 5 hour shifts so you wouldn’t have to be there all day and there will be two people per shift. A lot of spaces are still open so we really need your help getting these shifts filled in.
If you want to help please contact our publicity chair Stephanie Houck. You can contact her by using the contact form that is on our website and picking publicity on the subject list.
